We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK (United Kingdom).

Working together across our Councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk.

Do you have a passion to make a difference for our local business community, and to the lives and prospects of local people? Are you forward thinking, pro-active, and organised, with the ability to work in a partnership-focused environment?

If yes, then we have an exciting opportunity that may interest you. The Economic Development Assistant will help the Economic and Business Team to ensure the business community across Babergh and Mid Suffolk is supported, informed and engaged.

The postholder will provide support to other officers in the development and maintenance of appropriate business/employer databases and will play a key role in delivering aspirational projects and initiatives that support a more inclusive economy that benefits local people.

The role will also provide strategic and operational support to the wider team such as the management of business and partner relationships via phone, email, face to face, events and social media and project boards.

Additionally the postholder will help the team to develop, co-ordinate and support delivery of projects that deliver on the aspirations contained within our recovery strategy.

* This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working from home and it has worked really well for us.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered.  Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
