13 month training contract

Apprenticeship start date: As soon as possible

Looking to kick-start your career in local government? East Suffolk Council has an established and successful apprenticeship scheme, which has seen over 80% of its apprentices stay on beyond their apprenticeships to develop promising careers with the Council. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity where you can earn money as well as gaining experience and a recognised qualification, then look no further!

Working closely with a friendly team your role will be to provide administrative support for the award winning Warm Homes Healthy people service. The service provides advice and support to the public, particularly those struggling to heat their homes.

Duties will include responding to telephone and email enquiries, data entry, filing and basic administration. Strong communication skills are essential. You will be a key player in helping to deliver a project to help households who have no heating system get one installed this winter.

You will need to have  excellent interpersonal skills, an aptitude for ICT and a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grades 4 -9/Grade C and above, or (or equivalent) including English and Maths.  No previous ESCexperience is required, as full training will be provided, however a passion to be a positive and professional ambassador for the council and a desire to provide the best experience for our customers is a must.

So, what can we offer you in return?

  • A fully funded and supported Level 2 Business Administration qualification
  • Generous annual leave entitlements and high street discount scheme
  • Valuable work based skills from day one
  • The opportunity to meet and work alongside other apprentices in the organisation
  • Multiple training courses and development opportunities to add to your CV.

Some of our apprentices worked together to create a video to tell you a little bit about their experience of being an apprentice at East Suffolk Council. To watch their video, please click here.

For an informal discussion regarding the position please contact Teresa Howarth by calling (01394) 444206.

If you think you could bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas and a different perspective to East Suffolk Council, we would like to hear from you!

Interview date:  w/c 22 July 2019.
