The main purpose of the role is to contribute to projects and initiatives within Suffolk Councils and gain a better understanding of working within the public sector.
Programme overview and context
As part of a Suffolk wide partnership we seek to become exemplar employers in supporting young peoples’ transition into sustainable employment.
We aim to:
- Provide young people with high quality experiences of work on an on-going basis
- Address the emerging skills gap in local government by attracting new starters and identifying clear career pathways.
On this basis we offer an intern programme for 12 weeks with a number of placements across a range of directorates and services to provide the opportunities to gain an insight into careers in the public sector.
You will benefit from a joint induction that is geared towards growing your understanding of the organisation and how we work and also have access buddy/ mentor throughout your placement.
You will be given opportunities to gain experiences in front line, strategic and partnership working along with working towards the general objectives of the role.
Being part of this programme, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging, stretching and worthwhile projects and gain a real insight into working for the largest Public Sector organisation in Suffolk.
You will be part of a wider programme and therefore a network of like- minded people starting out in their careers. You will be able to draw upon this network of support plus have the opportunity to access a buddy/mentor.
