Welcome to East Suffolk

Dear applicant

Thank you for your interest in joining our team here in East Suffolk and making a positive difference to our communities.

We are approaching an exciting period of change.  Having operated as a partnership of two Councils (Suffolk Coastal and Waveney) since 2008, Councillors took the momentous decision to formally merge and create a brand new, super district council – East Suffolk Council.  Not only are we one of the very first to do this, but we will be the largest district council in the country, from Lowestoft in the north to Felixstowe in the South.  I am very proud to be the Chief Executive of a workforce which has adapted to change and transformed the way it works, providing excellent services to 250,000 residents across East Suffolk.

A key document for the Council is the East Suffolk Business Plan which sets out our ambitions for East Suffolk as a whole, focusing on three priority areas: Economic Growth, Enabling Communities and Financial Self‚ÄźSufficiency.

We believe East Suffolk is a great place to work and we value our staff, and the contribution they make, enormously.  However, we know that to continue succeeding it is essential for us to not only recognise and employ talented people, but also to develop and retain them within the organisation.

We now occupy modern, purpose built office accommodation in Lowestoft and Melton which provide flexible and open plan working facilities which reflect our ambitious and progressive approach to building outstanding teams to deliver outstanding services.

We believe that East Suffolk is a fantastic place to live and work; we look forward to receiving your application and I wish you every success.

Kind regards

Stephen Baker
