Fixed term for 12 months.

Based in Melton (near Woodbridge) or Lowestoft, but working across East Suffolk.

We are looking for two Communities Support Officers to join the East Suffolk Communities Team which consists of staff from Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils and Suffolk County Council.

Working in support of the eight ‘relationship managers’ in the team, you will enable communities across the two districts to identify, prioritise, plan, develop and implement projects that address local needs. You will also support some of the core work areas of the team including community health and wellbeing, increasing community safety, reducing anti-social behaviour and identifying and mitigating ‘hidden needs’.

You will have experience in supporting communities, community organisations and community champions, building community capacity by adopting an asset based approach and brokering effective solutions to local challenges.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as is evidence of a creative and problem solving approach.

You will need to be able to work independently and use your own initiative, but also work effectively with Councillors and teams across the three councils.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development and we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

*Subject to job evaluation.
