This role may require occasional travel to Woodbridge offices. You will be required to work outside normal office hours on occasion to meet the demands of the service.

Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils are committed to improving the quality of life for everyone living in, working in and visiting east Suffolk. Already a progressive and successful partnership, we are in the process of combining our two authorities to create the largest District Council in the country, delivering vital services to those who need them most. Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to undertake a range of Environmental Health activities for the Councils, including inspection of premises, monitoring, measurement, examinations, surveillance and sampling in respect of all areas of environmental protection. This includes dealing with noise pollution and pollution to air, land and water to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. You will be dealing with the public on a daily basis, sometimes in potentially stressful situations.

You should hold either a Degree or equivalent in Environmental Health or a degree level qualification in a relevant environmental protection related subject. You must also have a detailed knowledge of the regulatory requirements and guidance relating to environmental protection, pollution control, air quality, contaminated land and public health enforcement.

Relevant experience in Environmental Health or a closely related environmental protection discipline would be a distinct advantage, as will an understanding and experience of the IT systems which support the work of an Environmental Protection Team.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, pension scheme and free car parking.

For further information and an informal discussion please contact Andrew Reynolds, Environmental Protection Manager on (01502) 523113.

Interviews will be held:  w/c 7 May 2018.
