A unique opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Economic Regeneration team to support us with our communications. This apprenticeship opportunity could be your ideal first step on the career ladder in communications or to work within economic development and regeneration.
The Economic Regeneration Team works across Lowestoft to deliver a number of exciting projects which aim to make the town a more attractive place to visit, work, learn and live in. One of our projects, Making Waves Together, is a joint initiative with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, which will see communities and groups in both Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth work together to build cultural partnerships, engage new audiences and put arts, culture and heritage at the heart of the local vision.
Making Waves Together will see both towns deliver a broad range of cultural activity (dance, theatre museums, street art, etc), inspiring and engaging our communities as both participants and audiences. It will also raise the profile of the cultural organisations involved and make their offer more accessible to communities. The project is funded through the Great Place Scheme, delivered by Arts Council England, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England.
During your apprenticeship you will work with the Great Places and Cultural Capacity Co-ordinator to assist with all aspects of communications. This includes:
- using digital and social media to interest and engage people
- assisting with organising events
- working on campaigns to encourage community participation
- researching and analysing audiences
- keeping website information up-to-date
- helping with the overall project management and, monitoring and communicating successes.
You need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and IT skills and a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent). You should have an understanding of communications and marketing and be familiar with all forms of social media. You need to be enthusiastic about culture and heritage. However, no previous experience is required, as full training will be provided.
