An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Needs Officer to join our team based in Melton.
You will be responsible for a caseload of applicants who present to the Council in acute housing need (Homelessness, Housing Advice and Options and Homeless Prevention). Your duties will include assessing and verifying housing applications, undertaking homelessness casework, and providing housing advice and information at the first point of contact.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, interviewing and written communication skills along with a working knowledge of Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, and also the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 . You will also have excellent organisation and negotiation skills as well as the ability to remain calm when challenged on decisions.
Your primary base will be Melton but there will be a need for you to travel to our Lowestoft offices as and when required
In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development and we’ll give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation.
