Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils are committed to improving the quality of life for everyone living in, working in and visiting east Suffolk.
Already a progressive and successful partnership, we are in the process of combining our two authorities to create the largest district council in the country, delivering vital services to those who need them most. Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives.
If you have experience in the administration of meetings and in taking minutes, then this could be the job for you.
You will be working as part of a team but achieving individual goals. Ideally, you should have experience in local government or other public administrations. You will need to have an understanding of the principles and procedures of meetings, together with excellent organisational and administrative skills, IT literacy, high levels of accuracy, as well as good verbal and written English skills.
A valid driving licence and the ability to work some evenings are essential.
Please note that there are two posts at the Democratic Service Officer level and in order to provide future resilience, the roles and responsibilities of these two posts will be periodically interchanged. In accordance with the provisions of the Local Government & Housing Act 1989, this post is politically restricted.
In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
For an informal discussion regarding this post, please contact Nicola Wotton, Democratic Services Manager on (01502) 523241.
