On 1 April 2019 Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils will become East Suffolk Council the largest District Council in England. We are committed to improving the quality of life for everyone living in, working in and visiting east Suffolk. East Suffolk is set to become a forward looking, ambitious Council, an exciting place to work and make real differences and a place that values its people.

The Private Sector Housing Team are looking to welcome a new member to the team to help deliver housing services in the Waveney area.

As part of this varied role, you will investigate a range of housing complaints, deal with landlord’s, tenants and private owners, take enforcement action under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), inspect houses in multiple occupation and caravan sites.

We are ideally looking for someone with housing experience, particularly someone who’s previous role has involved inspecting houses, however, we will consider a less experienced candidate who has a keen interest in housing issues and a desire to work out in the field, in a very practical role. Training will be provided in HHSRS and enforcement if required.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a good team player, have a caring attitude and good problem solving abilities.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we’ll give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There’s also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
