East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.
In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for helping to prepare and deliver a phased programme of council house development, expansion and rationalisation of the council's housing stock. You will assist in identifying and facilitating affordable housing projects, with key responsibility for scoping, designing, planning, implementing and managing projects from inception through to completion.
You will lead on the project management of a range of individual housing schemes as they reach various stages of the development process at different times, commission and evaluate feasibility studies, and carry out viability assessments for new housing development schemes.
To be successful in this role you must have an understanding of key housing, planning and development issues at local levels, including knowledge of the planning system, construction and development process, building regulations and other relevant legislation. You will also have excellent project management skills, and experience of justifying affordable housing projects on financial viability and other planning grounds.
In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose-built, brand-new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
* Based in Lowestoft for the first 3 months whilst the new team is established, and training is completed.
