On 1 April 2019, we will become East Suffolk Council – a new ‘super district’ authority, replacing Suffolk Coastal and Waveney. It will be the largest district council in the country, providing high-quality services to a quarter of a million people across east Suffolk. We are the largest provider of social rented housing in the Waveney District with 4,434 units and an annual Repairs and Maintenance budget of £6.5 million. In response to recent Government policy, we have started a programme of Housing Development which will increase the council’s stock holding to approx. 5,100 units by 2023, and will optimise the stock portfolio for current and future use.
We are modernising the service to meet new challenges, including new ways of working, using ICT to improve efficiency and performance, and improving engagement with tenants to deliver relevant and improved services.
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual with an excellent IT background, and an ability to identify improved work methods that will benefit customers and bring business efficiencies. You will act as the team’s key representative in identifying and evaluating new operational IT systems, assist in the preparation of business case reports, and with assistance from our Corporate IT team lead on implementation at team level.
As well as having strong analytical skills, a logical approach to problem solving, innovative thinking and an eye for detail, it will also be essential that you demonstrate strong motivational skills and are able to work in a team environment assisting and supporting colleagues through change.
