East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.
We are a large provider of social rented housing in the district, with 4,434 units and an annual repairs and maintenance budget of £6.5 million. In response to recent Government policy, we have started a programme of housing development which will increase the council’s stock holding to approx. 5,100 units by 2023, and will optimise the stock portfolio for current and future use.
We are looking for a qualified individual to join our Building Maintenance team, to undertake various carpentry works to the authorities housing stock within the district, as well as Private Owner Occupier and Housing Association properties in neighbouring areas.
You should be competent in all aspects of carpentry work, with knowledge of modular ramps and adaption works. PVCu windows and doors installation and repair is desirable. Advancement training in modular ramps and adaptations, as well as the PVCu field will be available.
You will be qualified to NVQ II (or equivalent City & Guilds) standard or have 5 years relevant experience. A clean driving licence is essential.
In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, local government pension scheme, a works vehicle and free car parking.
* standby payment and overtime (as required by service).
