Based in either Melton (near Woodbridge) or Lowestoft.

Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils have enjoyed 10 years of successful shared partnership working, delivering services to over 250,000 people. This is an exciting time to be joining, with our organisation becoming one single 'Super District' council for east Suffolk in April 2019.

We are seeking to recruit a talented Head of Service to join our leadership team. You will be responsible for Strategic Housing across both councils, including a financially strong HRA of 4,500 homes. You will also lead on the effective strategic direction and leadership of all aspects of the Housing Service, including our self-financing development programme, Private Sector Housing and Homelessness Teams. With Housing being a key aspect of the council's growth agenda, you will lead and develop collaborative partnership working to ensure that the council and its partners respond to the differing housing related opportunities and challenges affecting our communities.

You will need to be confident in managing complex and challenging environments and workloads. You will also have high-level relationship management skills and a real commitment and motivation for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

If you have the ability to lead, inspire, motivate and manage in our fast-paced environment and can command the trust of Councillors and partners, then we want to hear from you.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose-built, brand-new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

Our specially commissioned film showcases the career defining opportunities and quality of life that East Suffolk has to offer and the difference that you can make to our residents, communities and sector. See this short film below.
