Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service provides fire cover from 35 stations throughout Suffolk. Our support services are a vital part of this provision.

Working as part of the engineering support team based in Goddard Road, Ipswich you will be responsible for performing diagnostic, service and maintenance duties on our operational fleet of fire appliances and specialist equipment. The work is varied and includes minor bodywork, fabrication and repairs to a range of plant equipment.

Duties also include occasional working from our mobile service van throughout Suffolk.

In supporting our operational colleagues you will be expected to provide out of hours ‘standby’ cover on a rota basis.

With a flexible approach and a proven recognised vehicle engineering qualification you will also:

  • have recent experience working in a heavy vehicle workshop
  • hold a full car (group B) licence
  • have electronic diagnostic ability and knowledge of latest vehicle electronic control systems
  • have an LGV (group C) driving licence (preferred however training may be provided).
