On 1 April 2019, we will become East Suffolk Council – a new ‘super district’ authority, replacing Suffolk Coastal and Waveney. It will be the largest district council in the country, providing high-quality services to a quarter of a million people across east Suffolk. Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to those who need them most.

Do you need practical environmental health experience to complete your professional qualifications?

We are looking for someone who is currently enrolled on or has completed, a CIEH-accredited environmental health degree and is looking for a paid 12-month placement starting in August 2019 (a shorter contract could be arranged for the right candidate).

Based at the Council’s offices in Melton (near Woodbridge), you will undertake a structured training placement to ensure that you can successfully complete your PPP (or equivalent).  After initial training, and under supervision, you will be responsible for the collection and submission of food and shellfish samples and undertake a variety of tasks that will prepare you for your career in Environmental Health.

So, what can we offer you?

Great opportunities for training and development and we’ll give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There’s also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

With the University of Suffolk 10 miles away in Ipswich, there is also plenty of affordable accommodation and student focussed activities in the local area.

Please read the job description and person specification on the right of the page before applying for this job.

Interview date (via Skype if necessary): 16 April 2019.

PLEASE NOTE: There will no access to apply for Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Council roles between Monday 25 March – Sunday 31 March 2019. During this period, the site will be down for essential maintenance in order to prepare for the change to East Suffolk Council on the 1 April 2019.

Access for applicants will resume 1 April 2019.
