Overview of the job
The Environmental Protection team are seeking a Waste Enforcement Officer to provide a range of regulatory and enabling functions that affect the daily lives of people living, working and relaxing in Ipswich. The service includes out of hours working aimed at protecting and improving public health, the local environment and quality of life.
The post involves the promotion of responsible citizenship in respect of abandoned vehicles, litter, graffiti, dog fouling, responsible dog ownership and related issues, which include dealing with stray dogs, lost dogs and dangerous dogs in conjunction with the Police. The role will involve taking necessary action to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation through advice, education and appropriate enforcement, such as service of statutory notices and legal proceedings in accordance with council policy.
You will have 2 A levels, 5 GCSEs, or a NVQ Level 3, or 2 years qualitative experience. You will have had experience of dealing with people face-to-face and have the ability to make decisions for a range of problems.
