Working within this dynamic and highly motivated Public Health Team, you will help deliver health improvement functions across Suffolk and support the commissioning of Public Health services.

As a member of the Health Improvement: Prevention, Lifestyle and Quality team, you will lead on the statutory NHS Health Checks programme and the local tobacco control agenda. The portfolio will also include other agreed specialist areas of health improvement (e.g. behaviour change). You will support the Senior Health Improvement Commissioner and line manage up to two members of the team.

You will be self-motivated, flexible and innovative to effectively address challenges and impact on health and health inequalities in Suffolk. You will hold a Masters degree in Public Health or equivalent qualification, and demonstrate excellent understanding of the wider determinants of health and experience of working in Public Health and commissioning. Strong leadership, networking and influencing skills are essential together with political astuteness. Experience of line management and budget responsibility would be an advantage.

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

For an informal discussion, please contact Helen Reed on (01473) 265340 or email: helen.reed@suffolk.gov.uk
