This role is countywide, although we endeavour to ensure staff work within their local area.

Suffolk County Council Road Safety Team are looking to recruit staff to support the delivery of Bikeability cyclist training, working within schools and communities delivering road safety.

We will fully train you to deliver Bikeability and road safety presentations as required.

You should be a confident and proficient cyclist and have some experience of presenting to groups. A well maintained bicycle is an essential requirement, along with a professional attitude and willingness to engage with people. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

For an informal discussion only, please contact Iain Watson on (01284) 758843.

Please read the Job and Person Profile and the Cyclist Training General Notes before applying for this job.

Interview date: 17 December 2019 in Bury St Edmunds.

You wil also need to attend a 4-day Bikeability Instructor course in Bury St Edmunds on 17 - 20 February 2020. Successful completion of this course is a prerequisite for employment. Travelling expenses to attend this course will be paid.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts. We are also committed to flexible working.  For the types of flexible or part time working available for specific roles, please see the Job and Person Profile.
