£24,982 - £25,991 pa

Benefits include: Standby payment, Overtime (as required by service), Company Vehicle provided, and Local Government Pension Scheme

East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We are a large provider of social rented housing in the District, with c.4,500 units and an annual Repairs and Maintenance budget of £6.5 million. In response to recent Government policy, we have started a programme of Housing Development which will increase the Council’s stock holding to approx. 5,100 units by 2023, and will optimise the stock portfolio for current and future use.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Building Maintenance team, to undertake various carpentry works to the Authorities Housing Stock and Assets within the district, as well as Private Owner Occupier and Housing association properties in neighbouring areas.

You should be competent in all aspects of carpentry work, with installation and repair knowledge of PVCu windows and doors being desirable. However, in-house training will be provided in this area, as this knowledge will be required as part of our out of hours services.

You will be qualified to NVQ II (or equivalent City and Guilds) standard or have 5 years relevant experience. Have a good understanding of IT, with a current driving licence being essential.

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday. However, as you may be working outside of the District a flexible approach to working hours will be essential.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long-term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. Power tools are provided, with a monthly tool allowance to assist you with the purchasing of trade hand tools. You will also be provided with mobile devices. There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

Please read the job description and person specification before applying for this job.

Please email Graham Turner at graham.turner@eastsuffolk.gov.uk should you require further information.
