Suffolk Coastal District Council and Waveney District Council are leading the way as a progressive local authority partnership and we are committed to improving the quality of life for everyone living in, working in and visiting east Suffolk.

We are currently working towards a full merger, which will create the largest district council in the country - delivering vital services to those who need them most. It is a truly exciting time to join us.

We are recruiting for a Litigation Lawyer to join our talented and dynamic legal team. If you are looking for your next challenge in a progressive and forward thinking organisation, we would like to hear from you.

You will lead on and provide accurate legal advice on litigation (criminal and civil), licensing law, housing law and information law across both councils. You will be required to represent the councils in Court and to instruct counsel as required. You will also carry out line management responsibilities in supervising the Practice Development Assistant who is the 'super user' for Legal Services' case management system.

You must have experience of working at a senior level on litigation, as well as an excellent track record of providing proactive, expert, timely and authoritative legal advice and support to senior leaders and key decision-makers.

Our councils are proud to offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation.

There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose built brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking. We will also consider job sharing for this position.

For an informal discussion regarding these fantastic career opportunities, please contact Christopher Bing, Legal Services Manager on (01394) 444408.

Closing date: 1pm, 10 May 2017.
