The purpose of the role is to be the designated lead and manage the safeguarding function of the diocesan organisation; representing the diocese in all matters connected with safeguarding and being the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [DSA] in accordance with National Church policy and practice guidance.

The Safeguarding Manager supports and advises the Bishops, Archdeacons, Diocesan Secretary and senior clerical and administrative staff, and the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisory Panel, in ensuring that the diocese fulfils its responsibilities, and enables parishes and benefices in fulfilling theirs.

The Safeguarding Manager will ensure that safeguarding regulations for the diocese are communicated well and that there is an effective programme of training. They will lead, manage and support the safeguarding staff team.
