An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) Nursing and Clinical Service as a Healthy Child Service Manager (North and East), working from Endeavour House, Ipswich.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced leader with a passion for improving outcomes for children, young people and families. We are seeking an inspiring leader who can build on our successes, lead and manage our Healthy Child Services.

You will already be an accomplished manager in children's health or social care, with experience of managing children's centres and have a detailed knowledge of the EYFS. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced professional with management experience who can work to a high standard in a demanding role. This role will be a next step for you to influence and drive practice improvement and increase impact for families.

Your role

You will:

  • be joining an experienced and committed team, who are entirely focussed on achieving the best outcomes for children and families
  • be supported by a team of senior clinical managers, and successfully lead and manage, the strategic and operational development of HCP 0-19, i.e. Health Visiting, Children Centres and School Nursing services across North and East Suffolk area
  • build on our track record of innovative service provision.

Within Suffolk, our Health Visiting Teams are fully integrated with our Children's Centres, providing a range of services to help families stay safe, happy and healthy.

Your responsibilities:

  • Line manage several School Nurse and Healthy Child Practice Managers and their teams in your geographical area
  • Lead on the delivery of Children's Centre activities and family support to improve outcomes for children and families in Suffolk
  • Lead on a specialist area and act as the lead source of advice for other Heads of Service or Service Managers and link with relevant commissioners and report as required.

You will need:

  • a suitable professional qualification at postgraduate level or equivalent experience at a seasoned professional level in a relevant area of work
  • evidence of continuing professional development in a management role.

The team

0-19 Healthy Child Service is led by a Head of Service for CYP Community Nursing and 4 service managers: the Family Nurse Supervisor, two Healthy Child Service Managers (HCSM) managing two separate geographical areas and the Service Manager for Named Nurse Safeguarding and Children in Care Nurses.

You will work closely with the Clinical Quality and Performance Manager to ensure that your teams deliver a safe, effective, caring, and responsive service.

The HCSM managers strategically lead and directly manage the development and delivery of a universal high-quality community health prevention and early intervention services including: Health Visiting, Children Centres and School Nursing services, ensuring improved outcomes for children, young people and their families across the whole of Suffolk.

Travelling requirements for your role

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role, you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.
