Would you like to work in Suffolk, one of the most vibrant and attractive parts of the country?

Would you like to influence the strategic development of this beautiful county?

We are looking for a chartered town planner who is interested in addressing strategic challenges to deliver sustainable growth, including minerals and waste policy.

You will be part of a small but busy team of planners and other professionals working on a diverse range of projects, promoting inclusive growth.

You will be responsible for the forward planning work of the county council and managing a team of four engaged in:

  • monitoring and keeping under review the Minerals and Waste Local Plan
  • formulating responses to Local and Neighbourhood Plans and major planning applications (excluding NSIPs)
  • aligning the delivery of infrastructure through Local Plans, the Community Infrastructure Levy and Section 106.

We also offer flexible working, an attractive salary and pension.

This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

For an informal discussion only, please contact James Cutting on (01473) 264803.

Please read the Job and Person Profile before applying for this job.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts. We are also committed to flexible working.  For the types of flexible or part time working available for specific roles, please see the Job and Person Profile.
