We are seeking an Estates Surveyor to join our Strategic Property team. The successful applicant will share our values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts.

We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our Councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk – working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

As an Estates Surveyor, you will take on an important role in our Strategic Property Team. We need you to bring not just experience in property management, valuation, Landlord & Tenant, options appraisal and strategic review; but also, your energy as a part of the team implementing strong asset management processes, project management and developing robust data management systems.

You will be involved, from the outset, in contributing towards our asset management strategies and processes, whilst driving forward your estates workload and supporting the team on a day to day basis.

In return, we can offer you a challenging and diverse range of work across a varied estate of land and property within our districts and you will be working with Senior Officers and service colleagues as well as external stakeholders, advisors and partners in maximising opportunities and value from our estate.

With substantial experience in asset management, ideally a Chartered Surveyor, you will have worked across a range of workplace environments and bring the skills to work collaboratively across the organisation, have an eye for detail, be organised and meticulous so as to balance the demands of local government. You will of course, also be commercially focussed and an excellent negotiator.

*This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working at home and it has worked really well for us.

We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme.  We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.

We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered.  Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
