Acting as Deputy to the Cover Organiser, you will be responsible for supporting the co-ordination of all aspects of short-term cover for absent teaching staff including daily deployment of cover supervisors.

This role will involve taking telephone calls from staff early morning and late evening regarding absence and then arranging cover.

You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, as well as a good working knowledge of IT.
In addition, you will be required to take on the role of Cover Supervisor when not undertaking the Deputy role.

Your principal duty as Cover Supervisor will be to support teaching staff by providing classroom cover, implementing set work, monitoring students and reporting on progress during short-term teacher absence.

Other duties could involve administrative / technical support to subject departments, examination supervision and accompanying school trips.

Induction and training will be provided.

The working day is 8.15 – 4.15 with a one hour unpaid lunch break. You will job share this role with another Deputy Cover Organiser, working 3 days one week and 2 the next. The working days will be Monday, Tuesday and one other (to be agreed) each fortnight. One day a week you will be required to take the work mobile phone home to take any calls for cover.

If you are a good communicator and have experience of and a passion for working with young people in a learning environment; have GCSEs in English and mathematics; and the ability to encourage students to learn and to maintain discipline in the classroom, we would like to hear from you.
