As part of our COVID-19 response work we are seeking Support Workers to join our new Home First Plus service which will help colleagues in our Home First service ensure they can provide extra support and care to our most vulnerable customers over the coming months.

You will be supported by experienced Home First staff as they visit vulnerable and elderly people in their homes with daily living activities including in some cases personal care needs or low-level support with medication. You will be supported and protected throughout.
You will be vital to keeping our services going through this crisis and the part you can play will make all the difference to those who need our care and support in the days and weeks ahead.

The service operates 7 days a week between 7am and 10pm.  The hours of work within this vary and are dependent on the number of people requiring care and the level of care required.

The busiest periods are 7:00 to 11:00am and 4:00 to 9:00pm when customers require assistance with getting up and going to bed and some meal preparation.

You can set your own availability but as much flexibility as possible will be appreciated to ensure that people receive the care visits they need.

Staff are required across Suffolk and will be kept as local as possible to where they live. Where two people are attending a visit in a pair, they will need to travel independently to ensure social distancing measures are observed.

You will need

  • clear and confident communication skills
  • a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to assist with personal care
  • the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • a  genuine interest in helping people
  • A full UK driving licence
  • to be DBS checked and registered on the DBS update service (not essential, as we can arrange this before you start)

You will be given dedicated training and support and will be deployed appropriately, matched to your abilities, as and when the need arises to ensure we are able to support our most vulnerable residents.

For a conversation about the positions we have available, please call the contact from your part of Suffolk:

  • North Suffolk - Claire Lambert on (01502) 448709
  • East/Central Suffolk - Simone Murrell on (01449) 742871.
  • West Suffolk - Simone Murrell on (01449) 742871.

Please read the 'Information on supporting the Home First service' document on the right before applying.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts. We are also committed to flexible working. For the types of flexible or part time working available for specific roles, please see the Job Person Profile.
