  • Newly Qualified at £27,905 rising after ASYE to £29,636
  • Experienced at £29,636 - £31,371.

Develop your social work career by playing a key role in:

  • one of our three neighbourhood teams
  • our FCST (Flexible Care and Support Team).

To carry out this role, you will need to be Social Work Qualified and HCPC registered.

As a professional Social Worker, you will play a key role in promoting personalisation, independence, wellbeing and choice by providing a social care service to adults with care and support needs and their carers, carrying out:

  • complex strengths-based assessments / reviews
  • short term enablement plans
  • specialist mental capacity assessments
  • support plans and safeguarding plans.

As part of ACS, you will be part of a team striving to support independence amongst people accessing our services, using our Supporting Lives, Connecting Communities framework and Signs of Safety and Wellbeing practice approach.

This approach draws on strengths, resources and networks that people and families have, to identify and build solutions that work for them and respects people as experts in their own lives.

You will work with adults and older people aged 18 and over (and their carers), including those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory impairment, dementia and related mental health needs and adults with care and support needs who are at risk of harm or neglect and are unable to protect themselves.

You will be expected to work with complex and challenging cases. In doing so, you will utilise your skills, promoting the person's strengths and potential for independence, reducing the need for more intensive services including prevention of hospital admission.

The Service

In ACS, we work to three areas covering the county of Suffolk called North, Ipswich and East and West localities, with offices based in the towns.

Our community social work teams in each locality, are made up of social workers, occupational therapists and independence and wellbeing practitioners, along with business support colleagues.

Each team (aligned to its local GP surgeries) has its own manager who in turn is supported by an experienced and established senior management team. There is an area manager covering each part of the county and additional support is provided by central service / transformation leads.

Senior practitioners are employed within each of the four areas and they cover operational practice and professional development, linking into the county professional advisors. An allocation lead ensures that workflow within each area is effective and a finance and performance manager completes the set-up, working with teams to ensure that budgets are on track. We are led by our assistant director who reports to the Director for ACS.
