Exciting opportunities available for graduates to train for a career in Social Work.

Are you a graduate or prospective graduate, interested in training for a career in social work?

Excited by the thought of professional education at MA level in a top-rated university department?

Do you have experience working in a helping role but need to add to it before training?

Then apply for a place on the Graduate Trainee Scheme organised by the University of East Anglia (UEA) in partnership with Suffolk County Council's Children and Young People's and Adult Community Services.

You must have a 2:1 degree completed in the last six years. 2:2 grade may be considered if experience is substantial and relevant.

You will be offered a paid, pre-qualified graduate trainee post with the county council for 12 months. Subject to satisfactory performance in this work, you will be offered a place on UEAs MA in Social Work programme in September 2022.

Whilst studying, you will be able to apply for an NHS Bursary* to help meet part of the cost of fees and living expenses. In addition, Suffolk County Council will provide a retainer of £6,500 for each year of the MA.

You will need to sign a retainer, as an agreement between SCC and yourself, that you will return to work in one of our frontline children's social care teams for a minimum of 2 years on successful completion of the course and successful job interview.

*Please note: there are no guarantees of receiving a Bursary and it will be the applicant's responsibility to cover any shortfall of the university fees to UEA from the Bursary amount awarded.

To discuss the programme, please contact Jon Farthing, ACS and CYP Workforce Development, on (01473) 260409 or email: jon.farthing@suffolk.gov.uk
