An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Social Worker to join Suffolk’s CYP Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
This role offers a great development opportunity for an existing Consultant / Senior Social Worker looking for new challenges, or for an experienced and highly competent Social Worker ready to take the next steps into management.
Working in the Suffolk MASH provides practitioners with a unique opportunity to gain experience of multi-agency working and knowledge of child protection more quickly than in almost any other setting.
The MASH CSW role is fast-paced and rewarding. At times the work can be demanding and stressful, so resilience and a strong work ethic are needed to effectively manage the particular challenges of the role. However, our working hours are family-friendly and the MASH prides itself on a strong and supportive team ethos.
You will contribute to the leadership and management of a busy multi-agency team, building on effective interagency collaboration and helping to improve quality of practice with the MASH. You will have strong, evidence-based assessment skills, proven analytical and critical thinking and a sound working knowledge of child development, child protection, LSCB thresholds and Signs of Safety principles.
Core responsibilities include:
- Co-ordinating the routine activities of professionals working in the MASH
- Modelling the highest professional, child-focused practice
- Chairing Strategy Threshold Discussions with colleagues from MASH Police, MASH Health and other professionals
- Providing management oversight on the progress and quality of work within the MASH
- Reaching safe decision on a range of contacts to CYPS, ensuring LSCB thresholds are accurately and consistently applied
- Providing information, advice, or guidance to colleagues and stakeholders
- Managing quality assurance processes to support high quality service standards and practice.
You must hold a relevant social work qualification, be HCPC registered and suitably experienced. Previous applicants need not apply.
Suffolk MASH is committed to negotiating flexible working patterns where appropriate and secondments would be considered.
'The children and adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is well established. It is appropriately resourced and well managed. Thresholds are applied consistently. Information is shared appropriately. Decision-making is timely. Staff based in the MASH carefully review cases where there is a history of multiple contacts. They summarise concerns, analyse protective factors and identify the next steps. Allegations about professionals are promptly referred to the local authority’s designated officer.' Ofsted, 2017.
This organisation positively encourages the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role you will need to operate across a wide and rural area, so you must either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.
