16.25 hpw, fixed term until 31 August 2021.

Required from 1 September 2020.

Newmarket Academy wants you to join this small, happy, ambitious school and be part of the next stage of our journey to excellence.

In May 2017, Newmarket Academy was rated 'Good' by Ofsted. We invite you to join us as we move this good school to 'excellence'.

The core aims / values of this school are:

  • Making a difference to the lives of young people
  • Being a great place to work where colleagues are valued, supported and encouraged to grow
  • A school which seeks to challenge itself
  • A school which embraces creativity, innovation and change driven by all colleagues.

We want to be the best school in the area. We are looking to recruit an ambitious and innovative colleague to play a major role in that journey.

We are a key member of the Unity Schools Partnership which celebrates professional development and career development. The Teaching school and an active talent management programme will support you in this post and in your future career within the Trust and beyond if necessary.

Our community believes in our vision and supports our journey. In the autumn of 2019, the school completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment project sponsored by the generosity of the local community. Every classroom now has state of the art interactive whiteboards and sound systems. The refurbishment has provided the school with brand new computers for staff and students, a new library with over 20,000 books in a state-of-the-art building with a superb new SEND area, Engineering department, audio-visual equipment and tennis courts.

We are looking for a creative, innovative and enthusiastic practitioner to join our Drama team. We want you to share our passion for teaching and learning, someone who is keen to motivate and challenge our students and our colleagues. The role would be perfect for an applicant looking for an entry into teaching and or a chance to build their portfolio of experiences. We currently follow Edexcel Drama GCSE although we anticipate you will be working with the younger students in years 7-9.

We have a series of fantastic, innovative and inclusive drama productions and would be keen for you to contribute to our productions and have experience of putting on shows. We would welcome applications from candidates willing in the course of time to offer other subjects.

Our Drama Team is an incredibly supportive team of professionals who are supported by an excellent leadership team, who draw on the wider Trust for additional support, professional development and career progression opportunities.

The academy offers:

  • Well-being day each year
  • Opportunity for career progression into senior leadership
  • Professional development qualifications
  • Access to the training and professional development programmes of the Teaching and research schools in the Trust.
